How the speed test works
Ping is the median of 12 small requests, and jitter is how much they vary. For download and upload, several parallel connections move incompressible data for about 8 seconds each; the first moments (connection warm-up) are ignored and the result is the steady top speed your line reaches.
The test measures the path between you and our server. Sites hosted elsewhere can be slower or faster depending on your provider’s routes. For the most accurate result close downloads and video, and test over a cable or close to the Wi-Fi router.
